Business Communities along Bauchi road to main campus and Bauchi junction; permanent site of the University of Jos have unanimously resolved to protect students and staff of the institution as well as citizens who pass through and have their legitimate businesses there.

They also resolved that in an event of any eventuality, any person or persons happened to be killed or injured within the business environment of any investor or business owner and beyond without the protection of the owners,such person or persons would be arrested and presented to the law enforcement agencies as suspects of such crimes and where they where overpowere they should inform the appropriate authority for immediate attention.

This was the decision reached at an engagement meeting between the Management Committee chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman, Car dealers, Management of filling stations and the leadership of small and medium scale enterprises as well as the representatives of the University of Jos to find a lasting solution to killing of innocent students, staff of the institution as well as innocent citizens during any uprising or attacks within Jos and its environs.

Following the killing of the hundred level Student of the University of Jos, the Authority of Jos North Lacal Government has summoned an extraordinary meeting of the Business Community within Bauchi road to main campus, Bauchi Junction to Permenent Site of the University of Jos to brainstorm on the possible way to mitigate killing of innocent students whose parents have worked so hard to give them a better future as well as staff and other citizens who ply the road to do their legitimate business in the area.

Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman who read some of the resolutions at the end of the engagement noted they have agreed to protect the lives and property of innocent citizens irrespective of religious or ethnic differences as well as to safeguard students and staff of the University from harm or molestation of any kind from miscreants who are bent to take advantage of any situation for gain.

A nine man committee comprising the representative of the University of Jos, police, as well as members of the Bauchi road business community was constituted to inform other small and medium scale owners within the area on the measures taken to safeguard lives and property of its citizens.

They also agreed that any person or persons who allows anyone or individual to kill or get molested in the name of religion or any affiliation of any kind shall be arrested and handed over to the appropriate authorities for justice and in an event they overpower them the community should inform the relevant security agencies for attention.

Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Shehu Bala Usman appreciated the support and understanding of all citizens in the locality for their goodwill and love to his administration. He noted that his administration and that of Governor Simon Lalong remain committed to safeguarding lives and property of citizens.

Usman commended the management of A Y Shafa filling Station for their cooperation to his administration as well as the security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of the alleged killing of the one hundred level student of the University of Jos.

Representative of the University of Jos who is also Chairman of the Non Academy Staff Union of Universities, University of Jos Branch Bitrus Dagwer appreciated the Chairman of Jos North Shehu Bala Usman and filling sakuwa community in Jos for their commitment in ensuring that no lives were lost at their area which accommodates over one thousand students.

Similarly Management Committee Chairman of Jos North local Government Shehu Bala Usman says the Council has completed arrangements to reposition the operation of Trycicle operators to minimize crime and criminality in the area.

The Chairman also noted some of the measures taken to include identification of all Trycicles within the area with a new paint color different from that of Jos South and other Local Government areas in the state as well as biometric of all the Trycicles riders.
Others are any Trycicle rider who issues his or her Trycicle to any third party in the name of half key will be identified as suspect and a friend of miscreants in the area.

Chairman, Trycicle Riders Association Dahiru Hassan pledged to work closely with Government at all levels to sanitize the system free of crime and criminality.

Also at the Local Government Chambers were officials of Lalong Tomato markets farin gada where issues ranging from protection of retailers and customers during any uprising and attacks###.
