I have followed one of the most recent arrests in recent days with a heart full of sympathy for what will be left of Nigeria in the nearest future is better imagined than experience.
Over the years, especially with the coming of this current administration in the country, security forces have been battling insurgents without sufficient sophistry of weapons and if any of them dares talk about it, he or she will face serious sanction.
There are many of such cases at hand. Another precarious situation is where suspects are arrested and depending on their religion and tribe, the case will be shifted to Abuja and once it gets there, the rest is history as they always say.
Recently, a Fulani Herder was arrested in Akwanga by name Likita Abubakar with over 250 ammunition and AK 47 magazines who upon investigation, said he was on his way to Jos, agreeing to the fact that his co travellers whom he said have already passed to Jos.
A day ago I saw how the Fulani in taraba handed over some suspected kidnappers to the police command and this is coming days after the strong warning issued by the Emir of Muri, Abbas Tafida whom himself is also Fulani for the herdsmen to fish out bad eggs among them or face expulsion from the community.
There are so many unanswered questions when one looks at the security crisis in Nigeria. For instance, where is the the man arrested in Akwanga going with the cache of ammunition found in his possession? Who are his sponsors? What about the other ones that have passed ? Who knows the number of weapons that have passed to plateau state by the likes of Likita?
Some times talking about the security crisis in Nigeria gives me headeche, but am pretty sure one day, there will be a way out.
While we wait to see what happens to the suspected herder, I stand bold to warn, that in the event his case is moved to Abuja, we will protest vehemently. We all know that for now, he is in the net of the Nasarawa state police command and we will monitoring the situation until we get to its logical end.
I therefore urge the good people of Plateau State to intensify prayers because God is still in the business of miracles and by His grace, plateau state and Nigeria shall rise again.
