The Local administration in Mangu will soon commence enforcement of laws banning open defecations and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in authorized places.
Council Chairman, Hon. Lawrence Danat who disclosed this in his office while inaugurating a 12-man Task Group on Sanitation in the area urged members of the group to ensure that Mangu becomes the cleanest LGA in Plateau State.
Danat explained that the Council is already discussing with a consulting firm to handle waste management in the area and applauded the Mishkaham Mangu, Da John Hirse for providing a permanent refuse dumping site in the area.
Earlier, Director Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) in the Council and Secretary of the Task Group, Mr. Gwamnan Miri revealed that the activities of the group includes advising the Council on appropriate Sanitary measures and implementing laws guiding environmental Sanitation in the area.
In a closing remark, Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Da Nelson Bakfur who was represented by the Sum Pyem, Da Charles Mato challenged the group to reintroduce house to house inspection to ensure that houses in the area have good toilets and other sanitary facilities..
