His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon B. Lalong yesterday hosted the minister of mines and steel development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah in Plateau state.
The Gov. was represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni G. Tyoden in company of Hon. Commissioner Mineral development, Hon. Jude E. Dakur and other top Government functionaries.
The minister was enlightened on the abundant mineral resources God has blessed Plateau state with; and the need for the Federal Government to give necessary support and put in machineries in place to explore these blessings.
Also, since Plateau State is endowed with tremendous mineral resources, exploring possibilities to mine the mineral reserves would add significantly in boosting the revenue of not just the state, but the Federal Government as a whole.
This is in line with the State Government’s policy to increase internally generated revenue (IGR).
The minister, in his remark, assured the Government and the people of Plateau State that the ministry will do its best to put all necessary measures in place to ensure that the needful is done on areas of mining the mineral resources in the State for national development.
The minister also applauded the commissioner for putting the ministry in good shape and of course, admonished him to put more efforts towards taking the ministry to the next level, knowing fully well that mining the mineral reserves is what we need most as a means of diversifying our economy.
