PRAISE SINGERS OR POSTHUMOUS PRAISE SINGERS? Do you accuse others of something you’re equally guilty of?

Prof. Tyoden

I wrote a piece some few days ago entitled, “Sonni G. Tyoden: The most Loyal Deputy Governor”. I got lambasted by some people, labelling me a praise singer. I did not argue with them; you know why? Because “praise singing”, just like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder.

Some of us are posthumous praise Singers. We never eulogized people even when they deserve it. We only shower accolades on people who are dead. That makes all of us ” praise singers” in a way.

I think it has a lot to do with our insecurities and complexes as a people.

We wait for people to die, then we begin to say all the nice things in this world about them; what an angel they were and how the world would miss them.

That’s a very dangerous and hypocritical lifestyle if you ask me.

You see, there’s absolutely no need for all these rancour. Like I’d always say, the reader is entitled to his opinion just as the writer is entitled to his intention.

If I wrote that His Excellency, the Deputy Gov. is loyal to his principal and to Plateau; and you don’t agree with it, bring your own version to the table. It’s that simple!

We must not all be on the same page. We understand you have preferences for others and that’s beautiful. That’s the beauty of democracy.

But you cannot stop us from from preaching the gospel of the erudite professor and and an astute leader, H. E. Sonni G. Tyoden. It is a cause that when we stop promoting, we won’t be true to our consciences.

We’ve laid our hands on the plough and we won’t look back!
