Chief Hon. Engr. Lawrence Danat did not buy new vehicles as it’s customary with chairmen. All the cars in his fleet, according to the council chairman were refurbished by him. In his words, “I hate wastages”.
It’s through cutting down on some of these wastages that put Mangu on the spot, emerging as the best in terms of IGR.
When other chairmen are buying brand new cars, which is ‘normal’ with the average politician; our astute leader who’s also an entrepreneur decided not to join the fray.
All the cars were put back in shape, including the caterpillar that was grounded for years. Some of the cars, you would hardly believe that they’re not brand new.
There’s actually no reason for buying new cars if there are cars that can serve similar purposes.
We sincerely pray that the resources generated as result of these austerity measures would be put to judicious use to better the lots of our people.
